Brewhouse efficiency is heavily scrutinized among brewers, as it is a demonstration of how well they are extracting sugars out of the Mash tun.

  1. Water to grain ratio of ~1.25 qts/lb.
  2. Correct grain crush is key. We recommend a .035" crush.
  3. Recirculate the mash the entire time. This recirculation will ensure a uniform grain bed temp. Also a uniformly compacted bed will help spread the sparge water over all the grain, rinsing all the sugars needed, while keeping tannins and other harsh flavors in the grain bed.
